motorcycle touring holiday Germany Europe classic Ducati Bimota Superbike experience
2012 Biketoberfest in Oschersleben, page 2 of 3.
Classic looking Ducati Pantah 500 with a cut down Suzuki GSXR750 tank for that F1 look.
Another 500 Pantah,
geting ready to be started and warmed up in the paddock.
A Ducati 851 in the paddock.
A very special Tamburini Ducati 748 getting final preparation on Sunday morning.
A really beautifully made bike.
Another special frame comes from Kämna and is called the Demon.
Versions for desmodue and desmoquattro engines.
This bike with a frame conversion however could have been built decades ago.
A Kawasaki 2 stroke triple in a Norton wideline featherbed frame surely cures any worries about the wild handling of the original Kawasakis;
called a 'Norka' by it's builder.
A Suzuki 7/11 special: GSXR750 chassis with 1100 engine fitted.
Superbikes lined up and ready for Sunday's racing.
A Honda CB900F entered in the classic Superbike category.
Likewise a CB750F,
just about to go out onto the circuit for warm up.
Along with the other competitors, including a Suzuki GSXR750 and a special Seeley Honda CB750.
One of the several Honda RC30s participating at the weekend from JAMI racing team.
Tyre warmers are a must for any type of racing but especially so when the warm up session starts at 9:30 in the morning.
The Seeley in the paddock, also with tyre warmers doing their work.
The colourful and crowded 'American' corner of the paddock; & riders made up the American contigent at the weekend, here the Honda CBR1000RR of the W5 Racing team and the BMW S1000RR of 7th Seal Racing.
Romell T. Rogers of 7th Seal Racing and Brian Whelan of W5 were working their way up the Superbike Open class without much previous experience of the Oschersleben track.
Great to see a 'tricolour' CBR1000RR being raced, especially as I developed this colouring while working for Honda a few years ago.
That's Brian on the right picking up his trophy for 10th place in Saturdays race at the evening's pit party and prize giving.
The Pirker Blech Musi' (mostly) brass band provided great entertainment all the evening with traditonal festive hits, modern favourites and the occassional 'off the wall' rendition of Highway to hell (AC DC) or Let me entertain (Robby Williams).
Click HERE for their rendition of the 1989 classic German new wave hit 'Skandal in Sperrbirzirk' by the Spider Murphy gang, 3 minutes 23 seconds.
