Below are some work examples.
Honda VFR800
As European project leader for the VFR with Honda R&D Europe, Ian coordinated the market research, design concept, design and clay modelling.Ian also presented the design model to the European sales members to confirm their acceptance, which was overwhelming; before presenting it again in Japan to the managers of each department to receive their official agreement to go ahead with production development.
Finally Ian designed the successful 2 tone white and black colouring to keep the appearance up to date with minimum additional development cost.
Honda X-11, CB1100 Super Four
Ian was project leader for the CB1100SF concept model that was shown at the Intermot show in Germany. When the model was modified to use an aluminium frame derived from the CBR1100XX Super Blackbird, almost everything had to be redesigned.
However the image of the concept model had to remain, which meant some elements such as the rear seat cowl were kept.
