motorcycle touring holiday Germany Europe classic Ducati Bimota Superbike experience
Most of my part of the preparation for the weekend was to clean out the barn and get all the bikes in top condition, which was very satisfying.
Then sweep the yard and prepare tables and the drinks shed, while Brigitte organised the weekends' food supplies.
Later in the afternoon Ken and I rode over to Bad Camberg to meet some of the others coming from the UK. Ken had brought his gorgeous Furano in his van so that he would be 100% fit for the weekends' riding. His Furanos' home made muffler and the Ducati 851 with kit pipes made a great pair riding together.
Ken had also kindly brought some parts for me from the UK as he lives very near my parents, it was no trouble to pick up some items that I had bought online and had sent to my parents. Which meant I could finally fit the NOS (new old stock) front mudguard on the tricolore, great.
Garry and Andrew travelled together from north England, the furthest of all visitors this year.
Garry had reserved the 851 for the trip to Schotten on Saturday, a small taste of what awaits him when he gets his Tesi rebuild finished, hopefully for next years tea party.
ready to set off for Schotten on Saturday morning, with Ken on his Furano,
Andrew on his SB8R, Jürgens' Triumph Daytona 1200, Sam on the Guzzi Le mans Mk1 plus Andreas riding the DB2 and me on the Hailwood. . . .
8 hours later when we arrived back at the house after Schotten, the yard was crammed full of bikes- really impressive.
It had been so hot at Schotten that some people had gone there extra early while it was still cool and then left to come and relax in our yard, under the shade.
It's a good idea if you can get up early.
Andreas and the rest of us passing by the bikes parked in the yard so that we could get into the barn.
Most active visitors are the Bimota riders, with a total of 12 Bimotas in the yard on Saturday evening.
DB2, SB8RS, SB6, DB7, DB3 hiding and the YB4 in the back of the barn.
The well stocked buffet was much appreciated.
Felix made sure he wasn't left out.
Finally time for some to leave, to get back to their camping place at Schotten because there's more to see tomorrow.
The evening went on into the night for those staying locally.
